For those new to ostrich farming, we generally supply older ostriches rather than hatching eggs or day-old chicks. This approach allows new farmers to become familiar with ostrich behaviour, management, and husbandry before taking on the challenges of incubation, hatching, and chick rearing. As a result, this method has proven to deliver a significantly higher success rate for first-time producers.

There is currently strong demand across Australia for quality ostrich breeding stock. Supply remains limited, particularly in comparison to the increasing demand for ostrich meat and related products. By investing in ostrich farming, producers can help meet the growing market demand for a sustainable, eco-friendly, and high-quality protein source.
Market prices for ostrich chicks are often not reflective of their true cost or the risks involved at such an early stage. For this reason, purchasing adult or near-production-age ostriches is typically a more practical and cost-effective option. This approach allows buyers to avoid the challenges associated with rearing young birds and brings them two to three years closer to production, whether for breeding or processing.
Rising feed and input costs also make raising chicks to production age a significant investment. That said, we recognise that some buyers may still prefer to start with chicks or hatching eggs. Please note that hatching eggs are generally only available in late summer, as priority is given to meeting the ongoing demand of our meat production customers.
